Hair How-To: Braids Two-Ways with @theconfessionsofahairstylist

Braids are here to stay! Jenny Strebe AKA @theconfessionsofahairstylist has crafted two beautiful braided step-by-steps, as seen in the #newformal Essential Looks trend, so you can totally transform your look this season:

Look 1 – The Crown Braid
The crown braid is a classic style that can be beautifully dressed up, or worn more free, depending on the occasion:

The Crown Braid
  • Step 1 – Starting one side, divide hair in two and tie in a simple knot
  • Step 2 – Adding hair with each knot, continue through to the back
  • Step 3 – Repeat on the other side, from parting to centre back

The Crown Braid
  • Step 4 – Loosely twist and pin ends together, spray with OSiS+ Session Label Super Dry Flex to hold in place
  • Step 5 – Pull to ease through braid and crown for tousled volume

Look 2 – The French Braid Faux Hawk
This look has all the edge of a mohawk, but without the need to cut your hair into a permanent style:

The French Braid Faux Hawk
  • Step 1 – Prep with OSiS+ Session Label Volumizing Mousse for volume and texture
  • Step 2 – Divide hair into three – one main central, and two smaller side sections

The French Braid Faux Hawk
  • Step 3 – Pin the side sections then create a central French braid
  • Step 4 – Spritz with OSiS+ Session Label Powder Cloud for volume and grip

The French Braid Faux Hawk
  • Step 5 – Tuck in the end of the braid at the back
  • Step 6 – Comb out the side sections, spraying each section with OSiS+ Session Label Super Dry Fix to hold everything in place

The French Braid Faux Hawk
  • Step 7 – Continue to tuck and pin into main braid until complete
  • Step 8 – Give the hair a final spray with hairspray to finish the look
